Palle Knudsen, Gisela Stille and Elisabeth Jansson Perform in Die Zauberflöte at the Royal Danish Opera

Singers

This fall you can experience the revival of Barrie Kosky’s iconic staging of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at the Royal Danish Opera. The production has the Expressionist cinematics of a 1920s silent film. It features a bizarre visual universe rendered using hand-drawn video animations.

Baritone Palle Knudsen sings the role of Papageno, the bird-catcher and comic relief of the opera. He will appear on October 12, 21, 24, and 31. Soprano Gisela Stille sings the role of First Lady, one of the three mysterious women who assist Tamino and Papageno. She will take the stage on October 19 and November 2. Mezzo-soprano Elisabeth Jansson sings the role of Second Lady, another one of the three mysterious women. She will appear on October 19 and November 1.

Revival Director: Erik Friedman.
