Soprano Sofia Nesje Enger has earned a nomination for Opernwelt’s “Newcomer of the Year 2026” following her acclaimed role debut as Mélisande in Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande with the Bergen National Opera at Grieghallen.
Her performance drew enthusiastic praise from critics, with Opernwelt, a prominent German opera magazine, declaring that she “could have sung the lead role at any opera house in the world.” Bergens Tidende likewise described her as “absolutely radiant in the role of Mélisande.” The debut also earned her a Hedda Award nomination for Best Stage Performance.

“For a young singer like me, it is both surreal and wonderful—and, not least, a door-opener,” Sofia said of the Opernwelt nomination.
