BIOGRAPHY
A Spanish soprano from Granada, Rocío Faus enjoys a vibrant operatic career across Spain and Italy, moving with ease from baroque and bel canto to contemporary opera and zarzuela. She has been awarded in several internationally renowned competitions, notably winning three prizes at the 61st Tenor Viñas International Singing Competition.
Engagements in the 2025/26 season include her debut as Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen at the Teatro Grande di Brescia, Teatro Sociale di Como, Teatro Ponchielli di Cremona, Teatro Fraschini di Pavia, and Teatro Gaetano Donizetti di Bergamo; her role debut as Inés in Verdi’s Il trovatore at the Teatro Real; Inés in El gitano por amor with the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid; and a concert with the Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla.
Recent highlights feature her 2024/25 portrayal of Condesa de San Luis – the leading role in Helena Cánovas’s Don Juan no existe – a production by Teatro Real, in a co-production with the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Teatro de la Maestranza, and the Festival de Peralada. In recent seasons, Rocío Faus has also appeared on the Teatro Real’s main stage as Armida in Handel’s Rinaldo and as Miss Jessel in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw.
In 2025, she also performed as Clorinda in La Cenerentola at the Festival de Música y Danza de Granada, Musetta in Puccini’s La bohème with Temporada lírica de Granada and Teatro Isabel la Católica, and Frasquita in Carmen (in concert) with Foundation Orquesta y Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid, among others.
Previous notable projects include Gilda in Rigoletto at ABAO Bilbao Opera, and her debut as Musetta in La bohème at the Teatro Duse di Bologna, Teatro Consorziale di Budrio, and Teatro Ebe Stignani di Imola. Another standout was her performance in the zarzuela Luisa Fernanda alongside mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča, under the baton of Karel Mark Chichon, heard on the main stage of the Teatro Real and at the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus in Gran Canaria. Rocío Faus also took part in the renowned Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca, singing Ernestina in La scuola dei gelosi, and recorded a CD featuring works by Nino Rota.
Rocío Faus holds a degree in Solo Violin from the “Victoria Eugenia” Conservatory in Granada, and a degree in Lyric Singing from the “Escuela Superior de Canto” in Madrid.
