Most recent and future engagements include Jaquino/Fidelio, Pong/Turandot and Lurcanio/Ariodante (cover) at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, house debuts as Pong/Turandot at the Israeli National Opera in Tel Aviv, Brighella/Ariadne auf Naxos at La Monnaie – De Munt, Don Ottavio/Don Giovanni at Opéra National de Montpellier, Marc/The Wreckers (in French) at Malmö Opera and Lysander/A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Lithuanian National Opera & Ballet; Gualtiero/Griselda (Vivaldi) at Wuppertaler Bühnen, 1 Jew/Salome at Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Young Sailor and Shepherd/Tristan & Isolde w. Sir Pappano and the London Symphony Orchestra in London and Baden-Baden, as well as Boswell in a recording of Richard Stoker’s opera Johnson Preserv’d with Retrospect Opera.
BIOGRAPHY
Michael Gibson was a member of the Jette Parker Artists Programme at the Royal Ballet and Opera, Covent Garden, between 2022 and 2024. During his time in London, his roles included Borsa/Rigoletto, Young Servant/Elektra, Normanno/Lucia di Lammermoor, Heinrich/Tannhäuser, Pong/Turandot (also performed on tour in Japan), Gastone/La Traviata and Ruiz/Il Trovatore and in the Linbury Theatre, Charles Byrne/Giant, Male Chorus/The Rape of Lucretia and Varo/Arminio.
Michael is a graduate of the Royal College of Music’s International Opera Studio, where he held the Aldama scholarship. Prior to this, he graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, completing a Bachelor of Education in Music, and the Royal Northern College of Music, where he studied for his Master of Music with Peter Alexander Wilson.
An in-demand concert soloist, he has performed as a soloist with both the LSO and LPO, is a Making Music Phillip and Dorothy Green Young Artist 21-23, and is an alumnus of the 2024 International Meistersinger Akademie in Neuemarkt, Germany.
