From Nov. 18th onwards, tenor Emanuel Tomljenović will perform in the role of Hund (the Dog) in Şendil’s Die Bremer Stadtmusikanten at the Cologne Opera.
Attila Kadri Şendil, a composer and clarinetist hailing from Izmir, has artfully transformed Ulrich Lenz’s libretto for the Komische Oper Berlin, breathing new life into the tale of the Bremen Town Musicians. Şendil incorporates traditional Turkish instruments, oriental rhythms, and jazzy harmonies, creating a delightful fusion. The animals not only sing but also speak a unique blend of languages, showcasing themselves as true global citizens capable of transcending social and cultural barriers through their shared enthusiasm and friendship.
