REVIEWS

5th International Adam Didur Opera Singers’ Competition – October 2024

“There was a lot of charm and grace […] The Norwegian sings with great freedom and also with a sense of pleasure. […] Mozart? In it, she showed a lot of the other side of her soul… There was more expected power in it. An interesting voice, an interesting character.”

New Year’s Concert with the Ålesund Symphony Orchestra – January 2024

“Johann Strauss II is responsible for the waltz ‘Frühlingsstimmen.’ Originally written for orchestra, he was in love with a beautiful singer, so he added a solo voice part that is perfect for a coloratura soprano. And now, Renate Ekerhovd, fully warmed up, impressively dazzled with elegant brilliance in the solo part.”

Flaggermusen at RingsakerOperaen – November 2023

“The fact that Renate Ekerhovd from Bergen sings the role of Adele in the Bergen dialect adds to both the credibility and the comedic potential.

Renate Ekerhovd is a brilliant Adele, exhibiting flexibility and ease in the higher registers. It’s a pity that Adele’s big aria in the third act – ‘Spiel ich die Unschuld vom Lande’ – has been cut, as it could have been one of the evening’s major musical highlights. Ekerhovd also proves herself to be a skilled actress.”

–  Aksel Tollåli, scenekunst.no

‘Kirsten Flagstad 125 years’ concert at the Norwegian Opera & Ballet – November 2020

“Ekerhovd har en klokkeren sopran, en slank men distinkt stemme, og klangen er skjønn. Med sin lekne musikalitet, kan hun kle sjarmerende og ungdommelige roller. Ja, klangen er så utviklet at hun sikkert kan briljere i mer alvorlige musikalske uttrykk også.”

–  Magnus Andersson, klassekampen.no

The Norwegian Opera & Ballet Summer Concert – 2020

“Renate Ekerhovd sang Verdis sjarmerende Saper Vorreste vitner om god rekrutteringsteft, og jeg gleder meg til å høre mer. ”

– Ola Nordal, klassiskmusikk.com
