Greek conductor Zoi Tsokanou will lead the Xalapa Symphony Orchestra on May 16 at Tlaqná’s Cultural Center, in a special concert marking the 50th anniversary of Dmitri Shostakovich’s death.

The commemorative program, titled Aniversario Luctuoso 50° Shostakóvich, pays homage to the legendary Russian composer with a selection of his works, including excerpts from his Jazz Suite and the Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op. 54. Also featured on the program is État d’alerte by contemporary French composer Philippe Manour.
