INTRODUCTION
Rosa Bove is an accomplished mezzo-soprano renowned for her expertise in Baroque music, particularly the works of Vivaldi, as well as in 18th-century compositions by Rossini and Mozart, alongside a diverse repertoire that includes works by Handel, Hasse, and contemporary composers.
RECENT AND FUTURE ENGAGEMENTS
In February 2024, Rosa Bove made her role debut as Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi at the Monte Carlo Opera, conducted by Speranza Scappucci. In October 2024, she returned to the Teatro Massimo in Palermo in the role of Enrico in Rossini’s Elisabetta regina di Inghilterra, conducted by A. Fogliani and directed by Davide Livermore. Recent debuts include Leonora in Scarlatti’s Il trionfo dell’onore at the Teatro la Fenice in Venice (March 2025).
Among her future engagements is Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater (Easter concert) at the Abu Dhabi Festival 2026.
BIOGRAPHY
Born in Salerno, Italy, she began her musical journey at the G. Martucci Conservatory, studying under the tutelage of C. Tuand and later with V. Profeta.
At the start of her career, she had the prestigious opportunity to collaborate with the renowned conductor Claudio Abbado in a performance of Pergolesi’s Confitebor Tibi Domine with the Orchestra Mozart, a significant moment that was recorded live and subsequently released by Deutsche Grammophon. This collaboration not only highlighted her exceptional talent but also marked her entry into the professional music scene, setting the stage for her future success.
Rosa’s professional journey continued to flourish as she performed a wide array of significant roles across numerous esteemed theaters and festivals. Among her notable performances are her portrayals of Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Ente Concerti Marialisa de Carolis in Sassari, where her vibrant interpretation earned critical acclaim. She also made a memorable impression as Fidalma in Il Matrimonio Segreto with the Kammerakademie Potsdam and as Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona. Additionally, she took on the role of Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Festival Byblos in Lebanon, Ajutanta in Salieri’s Il Mondo alla Rovescia at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, and Ozias in Vivaldi’s Juditha Triumphans at the Festival International d’Opéra Baroque de Beaune.
Rosa has also enjoyed a notable career on international stages, including her debut at the Salzburg Festival, where she performed alongside the renowned mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli in Gluck’s Iphigénie en Tauride. Her role as Tisbe in Cenerentola at the Staatsoper in Vienna, along with her participation in the Rossini Gala, showcased her ability to connect with audiences through her engaging stage presence and expressive singing.
In addition to her operatic endeavors, Rosa has collaborated with numerous prestigious venues, including the Palais Garnier in Monte Carlo, the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, and the Teatro Regio di Torino. Her frequent collaborations with La Fenice in Venice are particularly noteworthy, where she has performed in operas such as Rossini’s La Scala di Seta (2015 and 2019), L’Occasione fa il ladro (2017), Vivaldi’s La Griselda (2022), and Farnace (2021), as well as Dorilla in Tempe (2019), and other works such as Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (2015) and Valdinoni’s Pinocchio (2019 and 2024).
As a concert artist, Rosa boasts an extensive repertoire of sacred and orchestral music. Her interpretation of Mozart’s Requiem has captivated audiences in various performances, including a notable rendition at the Rai in Turin under the direction of Christopher Hogwood. More recently, she performed Mozart’s Messa in Do Minore at the Duomo di Monreale under the direction of F.M. Sardelli.
