INTRODUCTION
Omer Shteinhart is a versatile conductor with wide knowledge and a genuine passion for an exceptionally broad repertoire, ranging from Baroque and contemporary classical to rock music.
RECENT AND FUTURE ENGAGEMENTS
Highlights from the 2023/24 season include the debut with Opera Rogaland with Menotti’s The Medium and participation in the 2nd round of the Malko Competition in Copenhagen. Earlier in 2023, Omer conducted a concert with the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, performing Stravinsky’s Firebird (1919), Bloch’s Poems of the Sea, and Rota’s 1st mvt from Divertimento Concertante (José Moreira).
During the 2024/25 season, Omer Shteinhart returned to Opera Rogaland to conduct a production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni, directed by Birgit Amalie Nilssen. In addition, he conducted Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 (arr. Simon) with soloists from the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, with whom he also opened the season with three concerts of Hans Zimmer’s music.
In the 2025/26 season, Omer will make his debut with Wiener Kammerorchester at the Schubertsaal of Konzerthaus Wien.
BIOGRAPHY
Omer served as assistant conductor of the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra until December 2024, working with Chief Conductor Andris Poga and guest conductors. He was a finalist and Critics Award winner of the Guido Cantelli 2022 Competition and participated in Gstaad Conducting Academy 2022. Through these experiences, he has worked with Orchestra del Teatro Regio Torino, Biel Solothurn Symphony Orchestra, and the Gstaad Festival Orchestra. In the New Music scene, Omer regularly works with Insimul Sinfonietta and has conducted works by G.F Haas, Boulez, Adams, and Gupta. He has performed with Manchester’s Psappha Ensemble and has participated in the 2020 London Sinfonietta masterclass.
Having graduated with distinction in Conducting from the Royal Northern College of Music under the guidance of Mark Heron and Clark Rundell, Omer was awarded the Mortimer Furber Prize for conducting in 2020/2021. He has assisted at the BBC Philharmonic and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, working with conductors such as Simone Young, Omer Meir Wellber, Ludovic Morlot, Julian Rachlin, John Wilson, Andris Poga and Alpesh Chauhan, among others.
Omer studied with Bjarte Engeset and Peter Szilvay at the University of Stavanger in Norway, where he graduated in 2023.
In masterclasses, he has been mentored by conductors such as Antony Hermus, Eivind Gullberg Jensen, Gianandrea Noseda, Jaap van Zweden, Mark Elder, Sascha Goetzel, Nicolás Pasquet, Johannes Schlaefli and Christian Ehwald.
