BIOGRAPHY

Italian mezzo-soprano Marta Pluda is quickly establishing herself as a promising young voice on the operatic scene.

In the 2024/25 season, she made her debut as Angelina in La Cenerentola by G. Rossini at Augsburg Staatstheater in Germany and appeared as the mezzo-soprano soloist in Rossini’s Stabat Mater in Biel–Solothurn. She joined the Opera for Peace concert tour across major theatres in France, made her debut at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo in a concert performance of La rondine, and took on the role of Dorabella in Così fan tutte at the Taranto Opera Festival.

Marta Pluda also performed a baroque program in concert in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and took part in Il belcanto ritrovato – a concert dedicated to operas by Nicola Vaccai that had never been performed in modern times—later recorded on CD for Dynamic.

Her 2025/26 projects include Dorabella in Così fan tutte at the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau, Angelina in La Cenerentola at Theater Winterthur and Staatstheater Augsburg, Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia (short version) with the Rossini Opera Festival and the Italian Consulate in China, and concerts with the Rossini Opera Festival in Tokyo and Teatro Belloni Milano, among others.

Further future highlights include the role of Annetta in Balfe’s Falstaff at Theater Orchester Biel Solothurn.

In the 2023/24 season, she was Terza dama in Die Zauberflöte by W. A. Mozart and Suzy/Gabrielle in La rondine by G. Puccini at Teatro Filarmonico of Verona. She performed as Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia by G. Rossini at the Landestheater of Linz in Austria and in concert in Shanghai with Rossini Opera Festival.

In the 2022/23 season, she sang at the Rossini Opera Festival (ROF) as Publia in Aureliano in Palmira, made her debut at Arena di Verona as Kate Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, and debuted the role of Isabella in L’italiana in Algeri at Wexford Opera Festival, where she also sang as Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi. She participated in Opera for Peace 2023, a project created by Julia Lagahuzère, singing a concert on the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Marta participated in the Toscanini Festival in Parma, singing the IX Symphony by L. van Beethoven as mezzo solo with Fabio Luisi conducting.

In the 2021/22 season, she sang Angelina in La Cenerentola in a tournèe of several Italian theatres such as Sociale of Como, Donizetti of Bergamo, Arcimboldi of Milan, Grande of Brescia, Regio of Parma, Fraschini of Pavia, and Sferisterio of Macerata.

She perfected the Rossinian repertoire at Accademia Rossiniana of Pesaro and debuted at ROF as Marchesa Melibea in Il viaggio a Reims by G. Rossini. At ROF, she also sang in Elisabetta regina d’Inghilterra, Tancredi, and Aureliano in Palmira, and she performed as a mezzo soloist at the Gala Rossini with Juan Diego Florez.

She won competitions like Toti dal Monte as Cherubino for Le nozze di Figaro by W. A. Mozart and AsLiCo Competition 2020 for the role of Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia.

From 2016 to 2018, she was a member of the Academy of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence, where she had the opportunity to study with distinguished artists and take part in the theatre’s productions, performing in La traviata, Madama Butterfly, La rondine, Il barbiere di Siviglia, and La Cenerentola.

Born in 1997, Marta Pluda began her artistic journey with classical and modern dance before commencing her musical studies under the guidance of her mother.
