Among Italo Proferisce’s highlights of the 2024/25 season are Schaunard in La bohème at the Puccini Festival 2025 in Torre del Lago and the Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv, Montano and Araldo in Otello at Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Michonnet in Adriana Lecouvreur at Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, and Ben in Menotti’s The Telephone at the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania.
His engagements in the 2025/26 season include Fiorello/Ufficiale in Il barbiere di Siviglia at Teatro Massimo di Palermo and Angelotti in Tosca at Teatro Principal de Palma, a.o.
BIOGRAPHY
Italo Proferisce began his musical journey with the study of the piano and subsequently dedicated himself to opera singing, first obtaining a diploma with top marks from the “G. Martucci” of Salerno and subsequently the II level degree at the “G. Frescobaldi” of Ferrara. He also attended master classes with Renato Bruson, Garbis Boyagian, Paolo Coni, Silvano Carroli, June Anderson, Gianni Maffeo, Alberto Gazale, Carlos Alvarez, Roberto Frontali, and Franco Vassallo.
He is a finalist and winner of various opera competitions including: the Rome Festival 2009 International Opera Competition, the 3rd International Opera Competition “Città di Bologna 2009” “Best Young Talent” award, the Toti Dal Monte Competition 2010, the Scuola Dell’ Competition Italian Opera of the Teatro Comunale of Bologna 2010 and the Anselmo Colzani International Opera Singing Competition of Budrio 2011.
Italo Proferisce embarked on his career in acclaimed theatrical settings, such as the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, the Maggio Fiorentino, Arena di Verona, the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, with internationally renowned directors such as Zubin Mehta, Nello Santi, Daniel Oren, Renato Palumbo, Pier Giorgio Morandi, Francesco Lanzillotta, Giampaolo Bisanti, Fabrizio Maria Carminati, Matteo Beltrami, Gabriele Ferro, Marco Guidarini, Pedro Halffter, John Axelrod, Jordi Bernacer, Francesco Ivan Ciampa, Pinchas Steinberg, Giacomo Sagripanti, and Andrea Battistoni.
