REVIEWS

Dialogues des carmélites by F. Poulenc at the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet (Apr. 2024)

“Frøy Hovland Holtbakk’s clean, precise soprano as Sister Constance is perhaps the closest to Poulenc’s music.”
– Hild Borchgrevink, dagsavisen.no [translated from Norwegian]

“Alongside Eriksmoen and Stene, it’s Frøy Hovland Holtbakk who appeals to me the most among the female singers (…) She is also one of the few singers in Bjørvika who manages to move lightly and naturally on stage while singing well.”
– Ola Nordal, klassiskmusikk.com [translated from Norwegian]

Peer Gynt by E. Grieg at the Bergen International Festival (May 2024)

“His soulmate Solveig, played with restraint and devotion by Frøy Hovland Holtbakk, uses her beautiful, clear and lyrical soprano, especially in the famous “Solveig’s Song.”
– Zenaida des Aubris, operawire.com

Un ballo in maschera by G. Verdi at the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet (Mar. 2023)

“The opera’s young rising star Frøy Hovland Holtbakk shines in yet another performance this season. She stands out with precise vocal acrobatics and stage presence in the role of the daring page Oscar.”
– Eystein Sandvik, nrk.no [translated from Norwegian]
