INTRODUCTION

Swedish tenor Anders J. Dahlin is widely regarded as one of the leading French haute-contres of his generation and one of the most sought-after interpreters of early music.

RECENT AND FUTURE HIGHLIGHTS

In March 2024, Anders J. Dahlin took on the title role in Rameau’s Platée at the Gothenburg Opera, a performance that earned him a nomination for Sweden’s Opera Prize (2024).

In recent years, he has taken on the role of Pisandro in Monteverdi’s Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria, under the baton of Emiliano Gonzalez Toro, with performances at Teatro Real de Madrid, Bozar in Brussels, Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse, Amigos de la Ópera de A Coruña, Angers Nantes Opéra, and Opéra National de Bordeaux, among others. He has also appeared in L’incoronazione di Poppea at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris.

Recently, on the concert stage, he performed Händel’s Messiah at Kilden in Kristiansand and the Stockholm Concert Hall, in addition to various projects at the Gothenburg Opera.

Engagements in the 24/25 season include Bach’s cantatas Unser Mund sei voll Lachens, BWV 110 and Nach dir, Herr, verlanget mich, BWV 150, as well as Mozart’s Requiem with the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Händel’s Messiah with BachPlus,  Matthäus Passion at Bergkerk Deventer, and a concert with Nordiska kammarorkestern, among others.

BIOGRAPHY

Anders Jerker Dahlin began his studies at the Conservatory of Music in Falun, Sweden, and continued at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Copenhagen, Denmark, where he completed his postgraduate studies in the soloist class under Professor Kirsten Buhl Möller.

Anders J. Dahlin regularly collaborates with esteemed conductors such as Christophe Rousset, Emmanuelle Haïm, Hervé Niquet, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, William Christie, Alexis Kossenko, François-Xavier Roth, and Marc Minkowski. He frequently performs with major orchestras across Europe. As a concert singer, he has appeared at prominent venues including Tonhalle Zürich, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and Salle Pleyel in Paris, Auditorium de Lyon, Opéra Royal Versailles, Palais des Beaux-Arts Brussels, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, De Doelen Rotterdam, Konzerthaus Berlin, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Philharmonie Cologne, Royal Albert Hall and St John’s Smith Square in London, Philharmonic Hall Liverpool, Madrid National Music Auditorium, National Theater Warsaw, Oslo Concert Hall, Berwaldhallen Stockholm, and the Danish Radio Concert Hall.

Anders J. Dahlin has received high praise for his performances as the Evangelist in Bach’s Passions and as the tenor soloist in Britten’s Serenade.

His operatic engagements have included numerous title roles in Rameau’s works, such as Zoroastre in Amsterdam and at the Drottningholm Theatre in Stockholm, Platée, Pygmalion, Dardanus and Atis in Les Paladins in Lille. He has also performed Castor in Castor et Pollux at Salle Pleyel, Jason in Charpentier’s Médée at Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, and David in David et Jonathas with Pinchgut Opera in Sydney, Australia. Additionally, he has portrayed roles in the works of Monteverdi, Lully, Desmarest, and Campra across Europe. In Mozart’s repertoire, Anders sang Belmonte in Die Entführung aus dem Serail and Ferrando in Così fan tutte with the Orchestra of the 18th Century, Marzio in Mitridate at the Drottningholm Festival in 2014, Jason in Charpentier’s Médée at Theater Basel, and Basilio/Curzio in Le nozze di Figaro with Marc Minkowski at Drottningholm in 2015. In 2017, he performed the title role in Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito to great acclaim with the Orchestra of the 18th Century, conducted by Montgomerie.

Anders J. Dahlin was honored with the prestigious Jussi Björling Award in 2014.
