Maestra Ewa Strusińska will take audiences on a journey through the surreal, violent, and macabre with the Norwegian Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra at Stormen Konserthus in Bodø on March 13 and 14.
The program’s centerpiece, Bartók’s The Miraculous Mandarin, once shocked audiences with its brutal, sexualized narrative of seduction, obsession, and violence. Alongside, the concert features the playful chaos of Ligeti’s Mysteries of the Macabre, performed by soprano Berit Norbakken as the eccentric chief of the secret police, Gepopo.
Strusinska will also guide the orchestra through Bacewicz’s Contradizione and Monnakgotla’s Bambu i björkars språk – a diverse program balancing contrast, complexity, and captivating storytelling.
