Stage director Cecilia Ligorio has been awarded the prestigious “Abbiati Prize” by the National Association of Music Critics in Italy. Ligorio was named “Best Director” of the last artistic season.

Now in its 45th year, the prize – named this year in memory of music critic Angelo Foletto – honored Ligorio for her staging of “Mitridate Eupatore” by Alessandro Scarlatti at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, as well as for her production of “Il re pastore” at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome.
Established in 1981, the Abbiati Prize is widely regarded as Italy’s highest honor for classical music.
