INTRODUCTION

Recently, bass-baritone Kosma Ranuer Kroon has gained significant recognition for his acting and vocal interpretations within the dramatic baritone repertoire of Wagner, Puccini, and Verdi. Notable roles include The Flying Dutchman, Scarpia, and Rigoletto, among others.

RECENT AND FUTURE HIGHLIGHTS

Kosma’s most recent and future performances include (among others):

  • Scarpia/Tosca at the Wermland Opera (2024) and at Volkstheater Rostock (24/25);
  • Orest/Elektra, Prus/Věc Makropulos, and Lindorf, Coppélius, Miracle, Dapertutto/Les contes d’Hoffmann (2023), as well as the title role in Gianni Schicchi (2022) at the Mainfranken Theater Würzburg;
  • Holländer/Der fliegende Holländer at Opera Østfold (2022);
  • Mark Torrance/The Shining at Malmö Opera.

BIOGRAPHY

Kosma received his education at the opera academy in Stockholm. He debuted in 2004 at Malmö Opera as Monterone in Rigoletto and has since been a regular performer at various opera stages throughout Sweden. In 2014 he made his debut at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm as Stankar in Verdi’s Stiffelio. He has been a regular guest at the National Opera in Riga for many years, performing as Michele and Gianni Schicchi in Puccini’s Il trittico, Guglielmo in Le Villi, and Alberich in Götterdämmerung. In Germany, Kosma has performed at the Theaters in Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, and Rostock and was a member of the ensemble of the Mainfranken Theater Würzburg 2018 – 24.

Kosma has been a finalist in the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Vienna and was nominated for Singer of the Year by Opernwelt magazine for his performance as Iago in 2011.
