INTRODUCTION
Emanuel Tomljenović is a lyric tenor of exceptional talent with a rich, natural voice of true quality, excellent technique, and a mature personal musical instinct.
RECENT AND FUTURE ENGAGEMENTS
Emanuel’s most recent engagements included Nemorino/L’elisir d’amore at the Bregenz Festival (youth production) and Beethoven’s Christus am Ölberge on tour with Le Concert des Nations (Santander, Cardona, Barcelona, Paris, Aix-en-Provence, and Hamburg).
Among his projects for 2026/27 and beyond are 4th Jew/Salome at Teatro Regio di Torino, Uriel/Die Schöpfung and Nathanael in Schubert’s Lazarus with Le Concert des Nations, and Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra.
For the 2025/26 season, Emanuel was part of the Opera Ballet Vlaanderen’s soloist ensemble, appearing in a range of productions across the season. He performed as Arturo Bucklaw/Lucia di Lammermoor, Don Ottavio/Don Giovanni, Abdallo/Nabucco, Le Remendado/Carmen, and Third Squire/Parsifal.
In the 2024/25 season, Emanuel was an ensemble member at Grand Théâtre de Genève, performing in the roles of Der junge Seemann and Ein Hirte/Tristan und Isolde, 4. Jude/Salome, Kuzka/Chowanschtschina, and Gastone/La Traviata. He also made a house debut as Tamino/Die Zauberflöte at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb and took on the role of Don Ottavio/Don Giovanni at Opera Rogaland. On the concert stage, Emanuel’s engagements included Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra in Denmark, and Mozart’s Requiem with the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra in Kristiansand and Stavanger, Norway.
In the 2023/24 season, as a member of the opera studio at the Cologne Opera, Emanuel Tomljenović performed in the roles of Stadtmusikanten and Hund in Şendil’s Die Bremer Stadtmusikanten, Romeo and Tybalt in Blacher/Prokofiev’s Romeo und Julia, Robert der Teufel in Iván Eröd’s Pünktchen und Anton, and Sprecher in Ondřej Adámek’s opera Ines.
In that same season, Emanuel performed as a soloist with the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra in Bach’s Christmas Oratorio. Additionally, he appeared as Tempo in Händel’s Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno at the Göttingen International Händel Festival.
BIOGRAPHY
After a successful season in the opera studio of the Oper Köln (2023/24) and the young ensemble of the Grand Théâtre de Genève (2024/25), Emanuel Tomljenović just finished another successful season in the ensemble of the Opera Ballet Vlaanderen in Antwerp and Ghent (2025/26).
In recent years, he has established himself in concert and opera on various stages in Europe. He appeared in numerous operas, including Don Giovanni (Don Ottavio) and Die Zauberflöte (Tamino) by W. A. Mozart, I Capuleti e I Montecchi (Tebaldo) by V. Bellini, L’elisir d’amore (Nemorino) by G. Donizetti, Cenerentola (Don Ramiro) by G. Rossini, and so on.
His usual concert repertoire includes: St Matthew Passion, St John Passion, Magnificat, Mass in B minor, and Christmas Oratorio by J. S. Bach, Mass in C minor, Requiem, and Coronation Mass by W. A. Mozart, Elias by F. Mendelssohn, Die Schöpfung by J. Haydn, Christmas Oratorio by C. Saint-Saëns, and many other works.
The young tenor had the opportunity to collaborate with numerous philharmonic, symphony, and chamber orchestras across Europe. In 2024, he performed at the prestigious international Handel Festival in Göttingen in the role of Tempo in Handel’s oratorio Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno, whose performance was highlighted as one of the ten best performances of 2024 according to the reputable magazine OperaWire. In 2026, he performed the role of Christus on a European concert tour and recording of the album Christus am Ölberge under the baton of Jordi Savall. In the summer of 2026, he embodied the role of Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore by Gaetano Donizetti, performing it at the Bregenzer Festspiele.
It is also worth noting that in 2021, the young tenor graduated in “Chemical Engineering” from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology in Zagreb.
